Sunwest Park – Public Swimming Beach & Activities

Sunwest Park is a public manmade beach located 15 minutes away from Hernando Beach. It is a great place to take the kids and teenagers alike! There are some water activities (for a fee) such as wakeboarding, an obstacle course, volleyball courts, and some small concession stands and food trucks.

The Obstacle Course

This is not a jumpy house for little kids! It’s an obstacle course made for 7 year olds and over. Teenagers and adults like will enjoy it. When we were here our children loved it, but the teenagers seem like they were also having a blast! It’s actually a lot harder than it looks…. But we all loved it!

Our Recommendations:

The entire family should try it! Once again, it might be hard for 7 and 8 year olds, in my opinion. If you fall into the water it’s not easy to get back up. The obstacle is quite difficult at some parts. For kids older than that, teenagers, and us grown-ups, definitely do it! It’s a fun challenge for the entire family!

Other Activities

There is a rope climbing activity that is new as of summer of 2022 that we have yet to try. We sometimes see some talented wakeboarders zooming around on the rope. However it does seem like if you don’t know what you’re doing, you will fall into the water a lot, and it’s difficult to get back on. It’s fun to watch, but this isn’t for beginners.
