Best Hernando Beach Restaurants on Shoal Line Blvd
Shoal Line Blvd is the main street that runs through Hernando Beach. As you get into town, you drive right past the indirect side, then the direct side of Hernando Beach, and head right into Weeki Wachee area. These are the restaurants that line on the left side (ocean side) and right side (river side) of Hernando Beach.
Our Top Pick:
Depends on what you’re looking for, but here’s our top picks of the best restaurants in Hernando Beach , depending on our mood:
#1 – Brian’s Place – fine dining with exquisite dishes, also the absolute best desserts in town.
#2 – Tropical Grille – quick lunch or dinner, best relaxing and casual atmosphere on a nice day.
#3 – Sunset Grille – best nightlife, two full bars, lively night scene, especially on karaoke nights.
Restaurants in Hernando Beach on the canal / ocean side:
There are three main restaurants on the ocean side of Hernando Beach. If you are lucky enough to live on the direct side of Hernando Beach, definitely take your boat out – highly recommend to lunch at Tropical Grille. Most friendly boat parking, and has the best views of the canal. You can also catch the sunset here.

Sunset Grille:
- Karaoke Friday and Saturday nights, very large outdoor area with its own separate bar
- Casual dining, relaxed atmosphere, lively on karaoke nights!
Tropical Grille:
- Located inside the marina, closes at 7pm or 8pm on weekends. Tiki hut, kitchen is a food truck, sits right on the canal.
- Can be accessed via boat. Dolphins have been spotted here. Eat lunch while you watch a forklift lift boats in and out of the water.
- See full information about Tropical Grille and learn about their unique features.
Leilo Tiki (formerly known as Zig Zag Scallops)
- All-you-can-eat snow crab legs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, live music Thursday through Saturday. Gets pretty busy during these days!
- Best known for margaritas. Technically on the canal and accessible by boat, but obstructed most of the time with shrimp boats.
- Located right near the public boat ramp.

Restaurants in Hernando Beach on the river side of Shoal Line Blvd:
Most restaurants on this side has a back seating area where you can feed fish and turtles. Occasionally you can spot a gator. Silver Dolphin has a magnificent garden in the back with semi private areas for seating. For a quarter, you can get some fish food and feed the fish here, and also at Lazy Lizard.

Silver Dolphin
- Two-for-one beers all day 9am – 9pm everyday.
- This restaurant is actually 4 things: a gift shop as you first enter, an ice cream on the right side with its own window, a garden in the back, and a full service breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The back is a magnificent garden with semi private seating areas.
- See more info here.
Brian’s Place
- This is Hernando Beach’s upscale fine dining. Chef Brian cooks exquisite Latin and Spanish fusion dishes that changes daily. Closed Sundays and Mondays
- This is where we go for dessert – everything on there is good, and there’s usually a selection of 8-10 of them including: fried cheesecake, guava cheesecake, Cuban bread pudding, tiramisu, chocolate cake, pineapple upside down cake, cannolis, and creme brulee. Everything is made in house from scratch.
- Lively bar area, or choose to seat indoors or outdoor.
- See full article, menu, and (yummy) pictures about Brian’s Place.
Drunken Mullet
- Lively night scene with large bar area. Golf carts, motorcycles, and birthday parties frequently seen here.
- Live music on weekends, and it gets very busy.
- Casual bar and American food, some fried seafood options. Lots of drink specials.

Upper Deck

- a little further beyond the Hernando Beach houses and closer to Weeki Wachee is Upper Deck, a restaurant with upper and lower level seating. It sits right on the Weeki Wachee river – you can watch kayakers and boats go by. You might also see a manatee swim by if you’re lucky! Brian and I were lucky enough to have experienced this several times. The image you see above is a view from the seats on the upper area.
- A little more “touristy” than the other restaurants on Shoal Line blvd. due to its strategic location.
